Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)

SDF is an antimicrobial liquid that is placed on a decayed tooth to stop further tooth decay. SDF has shown to be effective in stopping tooth decay, decreasing sensitivity, and hardening the affected area. The clinician will clean and dry the affected tooth/teeth, apply a small amount of 38% Silver Diamine Fluoride (FDA approved product) to appropriate teeth with visible cavities using a microbrush. For best results, SDF is applied at least 3 different times, to the same areas.
